Kristina Råström Brown was raised in Stockholm, where her love of design, craftsmanship, and the natural world was deeply shaped from an early age. She trained at Beckmans College of Design — Sweden's most selective design institution — graduating with Elle Decorations Sweden's Design Award.

Her graduating thesis included the Krickan Rug, acquired by Asplund in 1998. Hand-tufted in 100% New Zealand wool, it has been in continuous production ever since — a quiet measure of how enduring considered design can be. The relationship with Asplund has continued in the years since: she has designed other pieces for them, and Asplund is among the Swedish brands she now represents through RÅSTRÖM.

She was part of the Stockholm design community that defined new Swedish contemporary around the millennium — a generation whose work brought a distinctly Nordic rigour and warmth to the international stage and established Sweden as one of the world's leading voices in contemporary design.

Her career in New York has been shaped by design at every scale. She led the interior design of H&M's most important flagship stores, including the Fifth Avenue and SoHo locations — projects that required translating a global brand identity into physical environments experienced by millions of people. She subsequently served as Creative Director for Isaac Mizrahi, one of the most iconic American designers, an experience that sharpened her understanding of what luxury clients truly expect and what it takes to build a brand with an uncompromising aesthetic point of view.

Swedish design, however, was always the thread she returned to.

RÅSTRÖM is the synthesis of those two worlds. The collection brings together a curated selection of furniture, lighting, and textiles from Sweden's most considered designers and brands — among them former professors and classmates whose work Kristina has known and admired for decades.
