Pia Wallén

Pia Wallén is a Swedish designer working primarily in wool felt. She trained at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, graduating in 1983, and has built her practice around graphic simplicity and a spare, considered use of material.

About Pia Wallén Collection

Her designs are rooted in Swedish design tradition: simplicity, playfulness, and a quiet confidence in form. The Crux blanket, introduced in 1991, takes its form from the cross — a symbol of hope in Swedish folk tradition — and is held in the permanent collection of Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. Her work is also held in the collections of Röhsska museet in Gothenburg and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Throughout her career, she has designed for Asplund, including a series of rugs, and collaborated with Electrolux, carrying the same material sensibility across different contexts.
