Thomas Bernstrand trained at Konstfack in Stockholm and Danmarks Designskole in Denmark. His work has been exhibited at Colette in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in 2005 he was named Sweden's Furniture Designer of the Year.

For Zero, Bernstrand has designed extensively across the collection, including the Lumo and City families, among others. As design journalist Mark Isitt once wrote of his approach: "You should be able to swing from Thomas' things. Dance on them."
