Asplund Rugs

The collection began with one-of-a-kind pieces made alongside Swedish artists and designers, and grew to include a number of carpet icons — among them Crux and Convex, both by Pia Wallén. Rugs have also been designed by Thomas Sandell, Jonas Bohlin, Claesson Koivisto Rune, and Broberg & Ridderstråle, alongside international names including Marc Newson, Piero Lissoni, and Tom Dixon.

Asplund rugs are woven, knotted, or tufted entirely by hand, making each one unique. The primary material is New Zealand wool, naturally rich in the fats that give it a soft sheen and help resist staining. Certain designs combine wool with Tencel for a different texture and finish.

Custom Made

Asplund rugs can be made to order — shape, size, pattern, and color can all be adjusted to fit the space. For custom orders, contact us at hello@byrastrom.com.

Hand Made & Fair Trade

Asplund has worked with the same family-owned factory in Mirzapur, India, for over 30 years. Every rug is made by hand, from dyeing the wool to tufting, knotting, or weaving it using traditional techniques.

The factory does not employ children, and supports education in its weavers' communities — proceeds from every purchase help fund local schools, and leftover yarn is used to make warm vests for homeless children in colder regions of India.
