Designed by Färg & Blanche, 2020.
The name comes from the sash of a geisha's kimono — Obi takes its form from traditional Japanese knots and rope bindings, an idea that first took shape during a three-month residency in Japan in 2015. The rug was first exhibited by Asplund at the Amour mon Amour exhibition in Milan in 2017.
"We wanted to give the rug a three-dimensional effect, an organic shape on a flat surface."
Obi is an organically shaped rug, hand-tufted in 100% wool (New Zealand and fine Indian wool mix). Available in two sizes.

Asplund Rugs
Originally founded as a gallery — where furniture was treated as an object of art, not a product — Asplund grew into one of the defining names in contemporary Swedish design and interiors.
Handmade rugs from Asplund combine Swedish tradition and old techniques with contemporary design.
