Designed by Kristina Råström Brown 1998.
The Krickan rug began as Råström Brown's thesis project at Beckmans College of Design, later brought into production by Asplund. It takes its name from a childhood nickname.
Its oval form is drawn from Ekotemplet, a pavilion built in 1790 in Stockholm's Hagaparken as an open-air summer dining room for King Gustav III, who preferred to eat outdoors.
The original design began as an ink drawing on paper, later translated into hand-tufted wool — at the time, a hand-drawn gesture that was new to Swedish rug-making, just as Asplund was first developing its collection.
Hand-tufted rug with a pattern in contrasting colors, originally produced in green with a white oval.
