About Asplund
Originally founded as a gallery — where furniture would be seen as objects of art — Asplund quickly became one of Sweden’s leading and most cutting-edge design and interior companies, recognized worldwide.
Asplunds´s philosophy is to offer products of high quality and timeless design, manufactured as sustainably as possible.
“Our vision has always been clean, functional, elegant lines and proportional volumes with a quality that lasts and never goes out of style. An interesting and good contemporary design, that you should be able to like as long as it lasts. Good design for us is a product that you can use and combine to almost any style, it should be obvious as if it has always been there. We put a big effort in making our furniture and carpets. Details are made with the uttermost attention, materials chosen because they are the most suitable and durable for that special item.”
About The Designers
Mats Broberg and Johan Ridderstråle — creative collaborators within a practice that mixes architecture and design. The Stockholm, Sweden-based duo strives to infuse their designs with an emotional value communicated through the recognition of symbols and meanings. “We often draw inspiration from everyday life,” they say to explain of their point of view; “and try to combine a rational approach with a bit of wit, and the clash between past and present.”
Awards include Elle Decoration Swedish Design Award for Designer of the Year in 2014 and the Elle Decoration DesignPris in 2013, Good Design Awards, Wallpaper Design Awards and DesignPlus Awards.
